Orally Disintegrating Dosage Forms (O.D.D): Products formulated specifically for children, adolescents, young adults and geriatric consumer markets are the fastest-growing category of Rx drugs. Many times FDA is granting exclusivity to many drugs. Good for therapeutic categories such as Cancer, AIDS, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, CNS, and Alzheimer’. Patients can use better dosage forms such as O.D.D for good taste and for taking the drug without the use of water. Rapid dispersible tablets, Rapidmelt and Disperse beads are some of the forms available in O.D.D. These dosage forms disperse in ten to twenty seconds in oral cavity without water. Capricorn has developed and started manufacturing these unique delivery systems. Capricorn has developed five distinct orally disintegrating dosage (O.D.D) forms: • Rapid Dispersible Tablet (RDT) - Proprietary formulation with special compression technology, to produce tablets that dissolve within 10 to 20 seconds in oral cavity. Technology is applicable to small and large dose drugs and taste masked ingredients are used. These robust tablets can be packaged in bottles or other packages. Ready for commercialization and product applications. • Rapid Melt Beads (RMB) - a solid emulsion melt system in beads form with quick-melt (less than 5 seconds), salivating and smooth textured. The system does not contain any moisture and the process is performed at low temperature. Applicable to broad range of actives and dosages including Anti-infectives and antibiotics. Taste masked ingrediets are used. Ready for commercialization and product applications. • Disperse Beads (DAB) - is a matrix system in beads or powder form, readily dispersible or reconstituted in water for unit or multiple dosage administration. Suitable for Antibiotics such as Amoxicillin, Ampicillin, Cephalosporins, Macroloides such as Clarithromycin, Azithromycin, Erythromycin and Moisture sensitive actives such as Potassium Clavulinate, Lactic Acid Bacillus etc. Ready for commercialization and product applications. • D-Zolv (DZ) - a fast disintegrating solid dosage form based on a proprietary processing technology. The tablets dissolve in less than 15 seconds and require unit dosage packaging. Ready for broad product applications and scale-up. • Healthee Chew (HC)- a soft, non-sugar, diabetic friendly proprietary formulation and process for a chewable, salivating, juicy and good tasting dosage form. Formed and packaged with accurate piece weight, providing quick or longer disintegration in the mouth. Commercialized and ready for a broad range of actives - small and large dosages. | |||
